We are a running club catering for all abilities. We have 25 or so runners training for the London Marathon or other spring marathons. We have slightly more ladies than men at present and an age range from teenagers to 80 year olds. Our marathon times last year were from 2:50 to 6hours. We have a road race of the month as a focal point for runners to develop team spirit and camaraderie. The cross country team takes part in the Sunday Cross Country League with die-hards entering the National CC each year. Not all our members are competitive, some rarely racing others not at all. With 150 members, we expect 40-50 on a Wednesday evening & 20 on a Sunday. Within the club members set up their own partnerships to train at other mutually suitable times. We also have a social side with pub runs, visits to concerts, BBQ, ho down & of course our popular day out to man the water station on the embankment at 24miles in the London Marathon.

Your questions answered!

Where can I find you?

We meet at Cassiobury Park on Sundays at 9:15. (Gade Avenue entrance). For a long run over country paths or lanes.

On Wednesday we meet at Sun Postal Sports Club, Bellmount Wood Avenue, Watford, Herts. On dark evenings we follow our A,B,C,D. routes. When daylight permits we head out into the countryside.

What training do you do?

We meet three times a week. Sunday mornings from Cassiobury Park for the long runs. Wednesday evenings at the Sun Postal Sports Club, where we have changing rooms, showers and a bar for a post run chat. On Friday evenings we meet up for a speed training session. These sessions are for and attended by all abilities. The speed sessions are led by qualified UKA coaches.

Can I turn up or do I have to join first?

You are welcome to turn up and run with us before committing to joining. We charge £1 per week for up to 3 weeks. You are welcome to attend any or all of our 3 sessions each week for this.

I am only looking to train for the Virgin London Marathon, how will I find others to train with?

We have 25 runners aiming for Spring marathons. Ability range 2:50-6 hours. We are confident that there will be a group or someone for you to link up with. We also hold briefing sessions again led by qualified coaches.
