SWRR is a club with members of all ages and abilities, which was started over twenty years ago. The focus of the club is on road and off road running. We cater for those who wish to run competitively as well as encouraging those for whom running is a new activity and we have a thriving junior section run by our club coaches. New members are well looked after, given information about the club and encouraged to begin training at a level that suits their ability. Running groups exist for the beginner as well as the more experienced runner. The club organises several races of its own throughout the year and takes part in many of the regular races in the south west. Club members regularly compete in a number of long distance races and marathons. This year we have had members running in the London, New York, Berlin, Paris and Taunton marathons, all competing well after training with our marathon group. It is not all hard work; a number of social events are arranged throughout the year – ranging from the usual Christmas party to more active social activities such as mountain biking and hashing.

Your questions answered!

Where can I find you?

The club meets at the Harriers Pavilion, The Arena, Summer Lane, Exeter

What training do you do?

Wednesday evening: Track session and road running groups
Friday evening: Track session

Can I turn up or do I have to join first?

The club encourages people to come along and try us out before joining.

I am only looking to train for the Virgin London Marathon, how will I find others to train with?

SWRR has a marathon training group [see website for details] for those aiming to complete the course in around 3.45hrs. For those for whom this is too ambitious [or not ambitious enough!] club officials will be happy to advise on a Wednesday evening and/or assist with appropriate track training to build stamina.
