Contrary to the general perception, most clubs are not just for elite athletes, obsessed with training and with running high-profile races! Members of Belper Harriers are a cross-section of like-minded individuals of varying ages and abilities, who enjoy the many benefits of training, racing and socialising with others on a regular basis.
We cater for all levels and are always delighted to welcome both beginners and experienced runners to our training nights. We are a relatively small club with members of varying ability, from ultra-competitive runners through to those just wanting to keep fit and feel healthy.
Our runners range in age from 20 to 60+. You will find us a friendly bunch and one of our mottos is that no-one is ever left to run alone; so no matter what your level of ability or fitness, there will always be someone to run with you! Don't worry about how fast you are - we will have a group to suit. You will have no problem fitting in at our club and will find it an enjoyable and beneficial experience!
For those who aspire to take part in competitive events, we have a racing programme covering both team and individual races. While most members compete in some races, others prefer just to attend our training nights and enjoy a social run. This year we are experiencing our best ever showing in our local league competition and are currently the league leaders!

What training do you do?

Thursday: We hold a quality speedwork session – comprising of repetitions on a grass track or hill runs on a local park. (Spring/Summer only).
Weekends: Small groups meet up at different locations for a long run.
Can I turn up or do I have to join first?
Turn up at the Belper Leisure Centre foyer, or alternatively contact Steve Winfield on 01773 513384 or Malcolm Weir on 01773 826799.
You can try us out for a few weeks at NO COST! Following that, you will be welcome to become a member for a small subscription.
I am only looking to train for the Virgin London Marathon, how will I find others to train with?
A small number of members will be running London this year and they would be more than happy to train with you Some of our other members often arrange to meet up with those doing marathon training to help them through sections of their longer runs. (e.g. the middle section of a 15 miler or the 2nd half of a 20 miler).
