We are a friendly, sociable running club, welcoming all levels of runners. We encourage runners at all levels and enjoy watching the progress of novices and beginners. We have several social events throughout the year, which are all well attended. The club has been in operation since 1989 and sees about 25–30 runners attending weekly sessions. As well as a track session once a week, runners also meet up on Tuesday evenings and Sundays for a club run, on road in the winter and off-road during the summer. There is always someone to run with. We have two club championships during the year, with much fun and rivalry, and there are presentation nights with trophies for the winners and most improved runners. There is no obligation to take part and no pressure.
Your questions answered!
Where can I find you?
Our main meeting is on Thursdays at 6:45pm for 7:00pm start at Sportcity, Gate 13, Rowsley St, Eastlands, Manchester M11 3FF. Novices, beginners, all levels train together on Thursdays at the above venue. For further details contact Lynda Cheetham (coach).
What training do you do?
We have one track session per week, meeting at Sportcity. We have a thorough endurance warm-up, followed by the track session. These sessions vary a lot and are never boring. After the session is a good cool-down, with endurance exercises. Don’t be alarmed, you will be gradually introduced and advised as to what to do – just come and enjoy!
Can I turn up or do I have to join first?
Come and give us a try – you will not be disappointed. Just turn up and have a chat with Lynda, attend a few sessions and then you will be asked to join us. To take part in the club championships you do have to be a club member. Once a member and taking part in races (if you wish to race), you will need club kit. If you are looking for a club where you can get fit to run for any event with a very friendly atmosphere, Belle Vue Racers is the club for you. Visit the website for the full history of the club and what we are all about:
I am only looking to train for the Virgin London Marathon, how will I find others to train with?
Lots of our runners train over the year for many marathons. We will ensure that we find someone of your level to train with. Many runners enter half-marathons, which would be ideal for you to attempt on your training programme before you run your marathon.
