Golden and Silver Bonds
The London Marathon introduced the Golden Bond scheme in 1993 as a way to help charities maximise their fundraising efforts through the Marathon. A Golden Bond offers a charity a package which includes five marathon places each year for five years as well as other valuable benefits. Charities are able to renew their Bond (s) at the end of this period. There are over 600 charities in this scheme that hold approximately 13000 places annually between them. The Golden Bond scheme is currently full with a long waiting list of charities wishing to have a Golden Bond. In view of the length of this list we are no longer adding new names to it. A Golden Bond currently costs £1500 p.a. for the five places and other benefits.
The Silver Bond scheme was introduced five years ago and offers 1250 charities one place once every five years. These charities cannot also be Golden Bond Holders. A Silver Bond Package costs £300.
